structural design
A well designed package doesn't just look good, it also protects your product and is constructed in such a way that it helps streamline your operations.
When we meet with you, we help you decide what kind of package you need, what size and how strong it should be, what kind of board to use, and whether a cardboard liner is required.
We then create a pattern (which will later become a die), transfer it to the proposed board stock and fold it up as a prototype.
When you are starting out you may be packing your product by hand. We will design a box that requires a minimum of work at your end to hand pack. When you are ready to become more automated, we will modify the die.
In creating the prototype, we consider:
- protecting your primary product (strength)
- how it will be packed or assembled
- how it will be shipped
- how it will be handled at retail
- how it will look beside your competitor.
A few common styles
|
tuck end – economical style for smaller quantities and sizes. The two most common kinds are the straight tuck (shown) and the reverse tuck. |
flap seal – The closure is usually glued shut, but once opened, slips into a slit in the top. Efficient, requires automatic gluing machine. |
